Unique ~ Funky Jewelry for your Inner Flower Child
Artist Philosophy /Bio
Hello, my name is Kathy Hardy and I'm a self taught Artist/Jewelry Designer and have been making jewelry for over 20 years. I am also a certified Website Designer, Limerick Writer & Amateur Photographer.
I just love making things and being creative. I was always making something as a kid. For Christmas & Birthdays, I always wanted some type of kit, or rock tumbler, or easy bake oven or something that I could be creative with. I always made doll furniture & doll houses for my little Sister, or frog condos for all the little frogs that lived behind me in the ditch ~ they were never very cooperative though, and always jumping out of their beds!
People ask me how I come up with the names of my stuff and they love how I use Song Titles or Lyrics. My answer is and it's really strange when I make jewelry, I do so in total silence. I never have the TV on, or music playing, or anything. I love the quiet. It makes my brain work better. And usually when I'm making something a song will pop in my head and that's what I name the piece. Sometimes it makes total sense and sometimes it don't. If a song don't come to me when I'm creating the item, I'll name it something else. It all works out.
The only beading lesson I ever had was how to do a crimp bead. The rest is history, and now my work is being enjoyed by people all over the world and from all walks of life. I usually don't keep up with the trends and just make things that come out of my head. I love earth tones and natural stones. Anything with organic materials & lots of texture is what I usually go for. Jewelry design is truly my passion and I can't imagine myself ever doing anything else. I absolutely love what I do. I hope you enjoy my work....
